General Information
Hangzhou Medical College (HMC) is a full-time ordinary institute of higher learning officially accredited by the State Ministry of Education and People's Government of Zhejiang Province. HZM provides programs that teaches practical medicine our society has a great need for. Founded in 1925 as the Provincial Women's Obstetric School, the college was successively renamed as Hangzhou Higher Medical Vocational School, Hangzhou Health School, Zhejiang Health School, and Zhejiang Medical College. In March 2016, Hangzhou Medical College was officially established. Hangzhou Medical College occupies an area of 110 acres with 262,200 square meters of floor area. At present, the number of students on campus is about 5400. The college has four provincial first-class programs, namely, clinical medicine, basic medical science, public health and preventative medicine and pharmacy. It has 12 provincial key medical specialties. It offers 9 bachelor degree programs, namely clinical medicine, preventative medicine, pediatrics, rehabilitation medicine, medical imaging, nursing, pharmacy, medical imaging technology, and medical inspection technology. It has 12 diploma programs, such as dental medicine, health inspection and quarantine technology, health information administration, health supervision, health management, midwifery. The diploma programs has one key program of higher learning of Zhejiang Province, two provincial competitive programs, five are provincial specialty programs, two program development projects with grant funding from the central government, and one of the first pilot programs of Excellent Doctors Education and Training Scheme. It has 13 provincial New Century Education Reform Projects, 10 provincial education reform projects, 26 provincial classroom teaching reform projects, 11 published works, 6 education ministry planned textbooks and 17 provincial key textbooks. It has 617 research projects that are at or above the departmental level, among which 43 were funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and 129 were provincial or ministry level projects. 19 research projects of the college have been granted with provincial awards, 25 projects with departmental awards. It has 676 SCI papers, 652 first-tier papers. It has 137 national patent, 19 of them national invention patent. It has research labs for cellular biology, molecular biology, protein, morphology, pharmacological, and pharmacy. The college has a training facility for the training of examiners and testing of candidates of National Medical Licensing Examination (public heath category). Through its rural doctors training school, the Zhejiang Primary Health Research Center, and the Zhejiang Health Promotion Center for Schools, the college conducts research on primary health care system, and offers recommendations for those working in primary care. Enjoying an employment rate of over 97%, the graduates from the college are popular among many employers. The college attaches importance to the collaboration and communication with relevant colleges and universities abroad. It has a joint bachelor degree program of health information administration with California Baptist University.
